Hi friend,
There are some rodel enthusiasts up there; they are trying to break off the rodelbahn and onto the piste (“alpine luge”) as well.

Urs,

I have spoken with Niclas up there and they are a highly enthusiastic bunch. I think their ski hills are much like what you would see in places like Czech or Michigan, and perfect for rodeling. I am thinking about making a visit, especially for one of the many Alpinrodel events they put on.

I love the video !
If the Swedish "Rodlers" are indeed allowed to race – resp. Alpin Rodel or even better: Rodel-carve !! - on ordinary ski slopes that would be the place to go AND: They can even use the T-Bar Lifts…
“Rodel-Carving" is my favourite way, but in Switzerland not normally allowed !
…. and in Italy / Südtirol you probably would get fined for doing it….
A few Rodel-Tracks are sometimes wide enough for carving, but regretfully, these are the exceptions.
Regards
Urs

Urs,
I love everything about that video too. They are pretty well organized and could certainly use any kind of bump we can give them. Those kids are boss with the T-Bar!
Since we are pariahs here anyway, we are going to start pirating resorts at night more than I have been and posting videos of it. I might even pirate stencil the snow. Here, it is public land so technically they can only refuse you on the lift, they can’t stop you from hiking up and riding down. Even then, ski patrol can’t do shit and has to call the police who can only fine you under the “Skier Responsibility Code”, which you have not violated since we are not demonstrably a hazard and didn’t hurt anyone. My friends all learned a long time ago to be leery of my plans though so I’m rolling solo on this.
We are also thinking about going to resorts in places like Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Balkans, etc. Hoping that greasing the wheels might be easier there. Often, just our rockstar status as foreigners opens doors without even trying. The dog has that effect too.
